Also, I got a voicemail from a person who informed me that they were unable to afford an attorney, but that they had one anyway, and his name was Jesus Christ. I'm sure they meant to be serious, but it gave me a good laugh, which was much needed.
Been dealing with a very frustrating person at work lately - it's totally sucking the life out of me. Fortunately, good books, an adorable daughter, and a fantastic husband help cheer me up.

I kind of got swamped and forgot all about this place... My boss got called into a two week trial and I was barely treading water trying to keep up with her schedule and my own. So not much got achieved around here :)
Anything exciting happen with you while I was gone? The speech went just fine, I think, and I'm happy to have that behind me. Now it's off to new and better adventures!
I have to give a talk on Thursday... and I hate public speaking. Any tips or suggestions on how to get through it?
And please, no one suggest imagining the audience in the underwear. First of all, it's a RAMs club (retired active men) and I'm not sure I want to imagine them in their underwear. Second, my dad will be in the audience. Enough said. :) I'm having a crappy day, so the first 5 people who comment on this post will get a free copy of one of my books (your choice). If I can't feel better, at least I can make a few other people's days brighter.
In your comment, let me know what book you would want of the three, and what you do to cheer yourself up. Hey, have y'all seen the new Evil League of Evil Writers website? We've updated and made it shinier, but no less evil.
Check us out! I've been on a superhero book kick again. I stayed away from them for a while since I was working on my own (now available!), but I haven't been working on a sequel, like I probably should, so I felt safe enough venturing into the realm of other people's superheroes.
I love the stories where superheroes are an accepted part of the normal, daily life. I don't know why, but I get such a big kick out of that. Any superhero book recommendations for me? Other than my own, of course. I highly recommend that to all of you :) What do you guys think of cliffhangers in a book? I just finished reading a book I really enjoyed (yay for fun superhero novels), but it ended on a cliffhanger. And the sequel isn't due out until June. Humph.
Personally, cliffhangers annoy me. Especially if the sequel isn't coming out any time soon. For me, I read so many books that by the time the next book comes out, I've essentially forgotten the cliffhanger and am left confused when I start the new book. Or, even worse, I spend the intervening months with a vague worried sense of unease about what's going to happen to those characters. Still, it is an effective way to bring readers back in a series. So, what do you think? Do they piss you off or do they leave you panting for more? Let's see, since the beginning of the year, I've: 1. Had to travel to Chicago when it was supposed to be -30 degrees for a funeral, with a baby. Fortunately it wasn't quite that cold and the baby did great. But it was still a funeral. 2. Had a pet need emergency medical attention while we were gone. 3. Had an entirely different pet need emergency medical attention while we were gone. 4. Had that second pet pass away while we were gone (Goodbye, Queenie. We love you! You were a great kitty.) 5. Gotten really sick. 6. Had a dog have surgery to have her left eye removed due to glaucoma. And a variety of other un-fun things that I don't particularly feel like rehashing. Blah. On the plus side, it can only get better from here! Hope your 2015s are going better than mine! Oh my gosh, you guys! My darling amazing friend Sonja made me a book trailer for Girl on Fire for my birthday (which is today!) You have to go check it out (can be found on the YA page)! Admire it, love it, leave a comment for Sonja about how fabulous it is!
